Laredo TSTA/NEA held a wonderful Holiday
Dinner December 4, 2008, ending a very productive year wishing all
its members a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
2008 brought Laredo membership to more
than 3,000 strong. The movement in Laredo continues to grow and
Laredo TSTA/NEA expects to reach some very desirable membership
goals for 2009.
Laredo TSTA/NEA also had a wonderful
election year. Many endorsed candidates were able to win office and
more importantly, a key school board trustee was ousted of office.
Laredo TSTA/NEA is looking forward to a very prolific relationship
with state representatives and LISD School Board Trustees.
Mario Zaragoza, Laredo TSTA/NEA
Vice-President, points out that "This year we took care of business
for our members thus impacting our students and education
positively, but the second semester will be even better since we are
going to have monthly meetings with individual board members and the
superintendent to address issues that are of concern to our members
and students."
Internally, Laredo TSTA/NEA has worked
diligently towards building a strong Association Representative
structure. AR’s are the backbone of Laredo TSTA/NEA. This year,
Laredo TSTA/NEA was able to identify and name an AR at every school
building.
