NEA RA Delegate Elections
In order to meet TSTA’s ethnic-minority goals for delegates to the NEA-RA, local leaders should encourage their ethnic minority members to participate in the state delegate election and the local delegate election.

- Supervisors (select the “State At-Large Delegate: Category 2” option for nomination AND, if your local participates in the cluster, also select the “Statewide Supervisory Cluster” option)
Retired Delegate Nomination Form (Nomination deadline January 17, 2012, at 5:00 p.m.)
This form should be completed by TSTA-R/NEA-R members.
Note: Retired members who were NEA life members while teaching (but are not members of TSTA-R) may seek election as a Category 2 State At-Large delegate
Local Elections
Local associations should use the State Delegate Nomination Form (above) for your local delegate elections to be sure you capture the information required to be reported on your election forms. In order to meet TSTA’s ethnic-minority goals for delegates to the NEA-RA, local leaders should encourage their ethnic minority members to participate in this election.
NEA will notify locals by early February of the number of delegates allocated for each local and will provide official NEA forms for reporting data about local delegates and alternates. These forms must be submitted to TSTA by April 10, 2012.
Important points to remember when conducting a local election:
- a local must have at least 76 members to be eligible to elect a local delegate
- unless NEA indicates otherwise, local delegates must not be supervisory members
- delegates must be elected by an all-member ballot or by a general membership meeting
- the local should report every person on the ballot who receives a vote, including write-ins
Locals with fewer than 76 members may cluster together for the purpose of electing local delegates. TSTA will create clusters that maximize our delegate numbers and help ensure small locals are represented at the NEA-RA. Locals (or members in eligible locals) should contact TSTA if interested in becoming a cluster delegate. The nomination form is available in the Fall Advocate which must be returned by April 10, 2012.
