Over 23 million children and teenagers in the U.S. are obese or overweight. Obesity rates have soared among all age groups in this country and is a particularly serious problem for children. In Texas, it is estimated that almost one-third of our high school students are either overweigh or obese and, worse, 4 in 10 4th graders are.
Childhood obesity puts nearly one third of America’s children at early risk for Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and even stroke – conditions usually associated with adulthood.
This year, take a stand and fight childhood obesity. There here are dozens of ways you can help bring the message to your local, your school district, and your community.
